The following are projects created during my time at SCAD.
THE CENTER FOR CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS
PUBLICATION DESIGN
The Center for Civil and Human Rights consists of two main exhibitions: The history of the US Civil Rights Movement & Stories from the struggle for Human Rights around the world today. I was asked to take the content of these two exhibitions and re-format it into book form. The book’s purpose is to mimic aspects of the exhibition itself through the use of typography, color, imagery and paper selection.
PAN’S LABYRINTH
PUBLICATION DESIGN • ILLUSTRATION
Book designed with the intention of bringing the Pan’s Labyrinth screenplay to life, primarily through the use of typography. The staining effect was created by hand with watercolor, then manipulated digitally and applied to the book spreads. Illustrative elements were incorporated into the typography to help create a sense of fantasy and visual story-telling.
TABLES
TURNED
BRANDING • LOGO DESIGN • STATIONERY DESIGN • PACKAGING DESIGN
Branding development for Tables Turned, a fictional restaurant that thrives on the concept of food sharing. The restaurant samples different chef creations that are rotated every two weeks providing a unique dining experience each time. The use of turning tables gives the customers the ability to order & share an array of plates created by the featured chef.
BLEED
PUBLICATION DESIGN • ILLUSTRATION
BLEED is a magazine designed & developed as a tool to help beginner level graphic design students. The publication covers a diversity of design topics in a fun, educational & visually inspirational way. Its name derives from the graphic design term meaning “the area that goes beyond the boundaries”. BLEED inspires to push beyond boundaries in design.
SAGMEISTER
& WALSH
PUBLICATION DESIGN
Sagmeister & Walsh was the design partnership of Stefan Sagmeister & Jessica Walsh. This book was created with the intention of highlighting + showcasing their creative work. The first two chapters explore how Sagmeister and Walsh, individually, had a unique and unconventional approach to design. The third chapter covers how their collaboration took their work to the next level. I played with the unconventionality of a book; taking a book beyond what it is supposed to be, by forcing the reader to rearrange the last chapter in order to reveal its contents.
TUMMY
BUDDY
UI/UX DESIGN • BRANDING • ICONOGRAPHY DESIGN • LOGO DESIGN
Tummy Buddy is an App designed for people suffering with chronic gastritis, a stomach related condition that I have dealt with my entire life. It allows the user to log pain episodes, log daily food intake, keep track of medication & provide refill alerts. The app also provides the user with statistic data that can be easily shared with their primary healthcare provider.
71
BARBERSHOP
BRANDING • LOGO DESIGN • STATIONERY DESIGN • PACKAGING DESIGN • SIGNAGE
71 Barbershop’s brand identity was redesigned to match the elevated aesthetic of their barbershop. This new identity aimed to freshen up the barbershop’s atmosphere and attract a newer, more youthful clientele.
